Internet or United States Postal Service “That is the Question”!!!
The Internet is slowly taking over, and the USPS is looking at ways to cut back to survive.
Remember the 1997 movie The Postman with Kevin Costner, a movie you must see,
Movie Tagline: It is 2013. War has crippled the Earth. Technology has been erased. Our only hope is an unlikely hero.
Plot: Post-apocalyptic America. What begins as a con game becomes one man’s quest to rebuild civilization by resuming postal service.
Maybe this movie was trying to tell us something.
The USPS is now looking into no mail deliveries on Saturdays, so my question is “Internet or The United States Postal Service” which do you prefer?
Senator Bunning Strikes Out
Somehow Senator Bunning, I can only think that you were put up to do this, by your Republican constituents.
The reason I think this is because Senator Bunning is already hated, and despised by his fellow constituents. He would be the perfect person to hold up Congress and block the extending unemployment benefits. When you think about it Senator Bunning is a one man “filibuster”, and some of the Republicans are supporting this, and that is why they are supporting him.
I think what the Senator and other Republicans are saying by doing this, is how does it feels to be “filibustered”, however by doing this the Republicans prove once again that they are the party of “NO”!
I think what we need to remember that there are hard workings Americans who did not ask to be unemployed, and are not asking for hand outs from their government, but just need a little help, plain and simple.
Have any of you ever taken the time to think what you would do if you lost your job, you know the job you worked at for the last thirty years. The job you never missed a day or called out sick, never late and stayed late every day and did not get paid for all the extra hours you put in, because you wanted to save money for the company. The employee who never complained, and then one day, you get called into the office, and the say in a very nice way that, “I am sorry the company is headed in another direction because of the economy, and you are not going to be part of it”.
You sit there thinking what just happened, you woke up this morning like you always do, you get to work early, and put in your day then “BAM”, and it’s all over.
Then they walk you back to your department, and ask for you not to speak to any other employee’s, next they ask for your keys and name badge. Then adding insult to injury walk you to the back door of the building, open the door, the sun hits your face then “BAM”, door shuts, not a good bye or thank you, and it’s all over.
You get in your car and leave the parking lot; you know the one you parked in for thirty years, in the same spot every day. You are half way home and it hits you, I am “unemployed”, I don’t have a job, what am I going to do now.
For the first time in your life you are unemployed, and you go and file for unemployment, and you follow all the rules. You start looking for a job the next day, and the next day turns into over a hundred applications and resumes, now it turns into a year with no job. You have been turned down so many times for a job, you get the same answer that you are over qualified or the position has already been filled, and it continues every day as your bills keep coming in.
All I have left to say is we did not ask for this, however the hard working Americans have become part of the problem, so don’t blame us, put the blame where it should be.
.Senator Bunning, has single handedly blocked the unemployment benefits for millions of Americans and it is very hard to understand, I feel that it shows nothing but contentment towards the hard working people of America.
Senator Bunning I am going to keep your Rookie Baseball Cards, because Senator Bunning you were the best of the best and deserve to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, and I respect you for that.
I have spoken my peace again and I hope people will take time to think before they react, I respect everyone thoughts and I know some of you will not understand or even care for mine, however all I am trying to say is lets not ”strike out” the hard working American people, let’s work together as one to do what is right for all Americans.
America is scared and the politicians need to know
I am not a politician or a political analyst just an American who needs to speak his peace. America is scared and the politicians need to know!!!
The United States has always been and will always have people looking for Presidential failures.
This is not exclusive to President Obama; therefore I don’t think it’s a race issue, because this failure issue has always been in existence.
What happens is it becomes a blaming match, and yes we see that every day during the Health Care Reform and any other bill that needs to pass through Congress. If anyone needs to be blamed, it is the Executive, the Judicial, and the Legislative branches of government.
There are differences of opinions in Congress and what solutions would work best on problems here at home and abroad.
Core policy and party differences, every President has faced. This is not exclusive to President Obama either.
This country was not built on its people lacking awareness and following in a blind stupor to a single man, whether it is Congressmen, Congresswomen or the President.
What I feel that scares the American people, is the politician and/or politicians who have their own agenda’s, not for the state which he or she represents or even the people who voted them into their positions, all they want to do is upstage the President, and are looking for him to be a failure at what he has promised the people of America. Then after everything they do, they tell all the American people, not just their state but all of America, what a failure the President is and scare us into thinking the President is bad for the country. A simple way to explain or compare what they do is this, “the weatherman tells the American public on national television, to expect two feet of snow, and everyone goes out and spends money on supplies, towns and cities give overtime, schools close, businesses close and this puts everyone into panic mode, then it never happens”. You may not agree with me but I am just trying to explain this in the simplest way I can.
Well I am not going to fall for the Republican tactics any more, and here is why. After hearing the Republicans this week with the President, I have come to a conclusion that the Republicans are trying to make the President look like a failure.
The Republicans are strange, controlling, mean spirited and disrespectful people, not to say some Democrats are not, but Republicans stand out more at this time. I see the Republicans in Washington as “Hardcore Republicans “with their own agenda’s, and it seems to me that the Republicans, show more prejudice and disrespect towards the President, and I wonder if this is because they lost control of the country since President Obama has been voted in by the “American People”.
The President’s plan for better health care in America is to provide quality, affordable and portable coverage for all. He plans to make available a new national health plan to all U.S. citizens, which will include the self-employed and small businesses.
I have spoken my peace and I hope people will take time to think before they react, I respect everyone’s thoughts and I know some of you will not understand or even care for mine, however all I am trying to say is lets not make failure our only option in America, lets work together as one to do what is right for all Americans.
Health Care Reform
Republicans are strange, controlling, mean-spirited and disrespectful people, not to say some Democrats are not, but Republicans stand out more. I see the Republicans in Washington as “Hardcore Republicans “or I have come up with a new name for them “Scuds” as in “Scud Missile” who shoot off their mouths and don’t care who they hit like the American people. It seems to me that the Republicans (Scuds) show more prejudice and disrespect towards the President, is this because they lost control of the country since President Obama has been voted in by the “American People”.
Mr. McCain yes, you do need to be reminded on a daily basis, because it seems you forget who is President. God Bless America in our time of need.
The Sport of “Wife Carrying”
You are probably thinking what the heck is he talking about, wife carrying a sport, yes a sport. I was surfing the web and I came across this sport that was introduced in Finland, it is called wife carrying and is an actual sport where male competitors race against each other while they carry a female teammate. In this sport the male has to carry the female through an obstacle course in the quickest time. Believe it or not there are competitions that are held in Sonkajarvi, Finland, Marquette, Michigan, and Monona, Wisconsin.
After being married for over 20 years, I would love to carry my wife on my shoulders, it’s all about the love. The pictures say it all, “Honey I love you this much”!!!
What is this all about
Below is an article I came across on ESPN, I can understand the reporting of the game, but what I don’t understand is why the insult towards there national anthem at the end of the article by a reporter named Jim Caple. Hey Mr. Caple keep your friends comments out of your report, and with that I will leave it up to you to decide if he is right or wrong for what he said at the end of his article. Hey Mr. Caple you ever hear of the phrase “BE HUMBLE”
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — I’m not going to say it’s quiet in downtown Vancouver tonight, but thanks to Canada’s loss to the U.S. in hockey, I may be able to sleep without earplugs. Better yet, I may be able to sleep, period.

I’ve covered nine Olympics and I’ve never seen anything like Vancouver this past week. Not Sydney, not Athens, not Nagano (and definitely not Beijing). Things started off relatively restrained but every night the outdoor party has swelled, with thousands upon thousands of more fans filling the street. The city blocked off several major streets (including Granville, where our hotel is located) for pedestrians only, and every night the perimeter of this pedestrian (i.e. drunk) only zone has expanded like the old British empire. It was several blocks to the north of our hotel when the Olympics started but now extends several blocks to the south.
It’s been like Canadian Mardi Gras; just replace women flashing their breasts with fans displaying their hockey jerseys and Canada Olympic jackets. I would describe it as near-riot conditions, but the fans are mostly just loud, not violent, and judging by the smell, the haze wafting down the block is definitely not tear gas.
(Note: Remember when Canadian snowboarder Ross Rebagliati tested positive for marijuana in 1998 and he claimed he must have inhaled the drug accidentally simply by virtue of living in Whistler? I laughed at the excuse then, but not anymore. I can only hope Disney and ESPN don’t have a random drug test in the next month.)
The city went silent, however, with the hockey loss to the U.S. At least for a few minutes. And as I walked back to the hotel from the main press center, I noticed that the overall volume was down significant decibels. There also were several American fans shouting “USA! USA!” Two were parading down Granville and holding the stars and stripes high. “Put that away,” a Canadian fan pleaded. “We don’t want a riot tonight.”
Meanwhile, a friend of mine just came up with this new version of the Canadian national anthem.
No, Canada
You lost to Uncle Sam
We’ll take the gold
You laid down like a lamb
With frying pans you tended goal
We scored on you at will
From far and wide, Oh Canada
We’re scoring on you still.
God keep your nets
Wide open and emp-ty
O Canada
We scored five goals on thee
O Canada
U.S. with gold you’ll see!
He says he’s going to go sing it at the corner of Granville and Robson. I’ll let you know if he makes it back.
USA 5 CANADA 3
That was an awesome game between the United States and Canada at the Olympic games. As most of us know Canada and the United States players are all pro hockey players, however last night they went back in time when they were young and played hockey for the love of the game, like it should be in the Olympics. It was not about money or how famous and talented you are, it was about country, the game of hockey and olympic pride.
Martin Brodeur the goalie for team Canada had shown pride for both Canada and the United States, not only did he wear the Canada uniform, Brodeur wrote USA on the handle of his goalie stick. When I saw this I knew that this game was not about ego’s or money, and made me realize that the score may say one thing, but showed that both teams played the game the all love to play.
Watching both teams play was a sight I will never forget, they were playing for their countries. They represented there countries in ways that would make you proud to be an American or a Canadian. It was the feeling you get when no matter if your team wins or not you will always remember how great the game was, not who made the most money.
The one player who stood out more than any other player was Ryan Miller. Miller was the hero of the night, over 46 shots on goal, that is crazy, think about it 46 shots, he was having fun and it showed in his play.
God Bless the USA and Canada, thank you for a game I will remember forever!!!
Let me know what you think
